The Shaftesbury Avenue project is located in an inner northern suburb of Melbourne on a site that had previously been subdivided.  Dickson Architecture was the third and successful architecture firm engaged by the owners to produce a design that matched the brief.  Construction was completed in 2022.

The design response to the client brief was the retention of the original Edwardian dwelling, and the addition of a new two-storey extension in the north facing backyard.  A swimming pool was to be included within a new courtyard, and so the primary tensions were in providing privacy, solar access, and enough internal volume to accommodate the desired spaces.

External finishes included recycled red brick, galvanised corrugated steel, painted pressed metal panels, and Australian hardwood cladding.
